Mitsubishi Heavy Industries ZT Series Wins Prestigious A’ Design Award Gold

The new-generation ZT series air-to-air heat pump from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has received a Gold Award at the international A’ Design Award competition. The ZT series was recognised in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Products Design category. The Gold Award is among the competition’s highest distinctions, presented to approximately the top 3% of entries.

The A’ Design Award is an international design competition recognising outstanding achievements across various design disciplines. The Gold Award presented to the ZT series highlights Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ approach to product development, combining technical performance, energy efficiency, and thoughtful product design into a cohesive solution.

Recognition for a Well-Considered Overall Design

The ZT series received the award for successfully combining contemporary, understated aesthetics with practical functionality and advanced engineering. Its softly contoured front panel, refined edges, and concealed fixings give the indoor unit a clean, minimalist appearance, allowing it to blend naturally into a wide range of interior environments.

More Than Just Good Design

The recognition of the ZT series goes beyond its visual appearance. Despite its compact construction, the unit combines high energy efficiency with low noise levels, while ease of installation and maintenance have also been carefully considered during development. This combination of aesthetics, performance, and practicality played an important role in the ZT series receiving the award.

Another International Recognition for MHI Product Development

The ZT series Gold Award builds on Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ previous success in international design competitions. At the 2025 A’ Design Award competition, MHI received several distinctions. The KXZ3 VRF system earned the competition’s highest honour, the Platinum Award, while the RC-ES1 remote controller received a Gold Award. The RC-ES1 was recognised for its compact, interior-friendly design and simple, intuitive user interface. In the same year, the RC-ES1 remote controller also received a Red Dot Design Award. In previous years, the FDTC ceiling cassette units and the ZSX series heat pump have also been recognised at the A’ Design Award competition.

The recognition of the ZT series therefore reflects a long-term approach to product development in which ease of use, installation convenience, and integration into modern interiors are considered just as important as technical performance.
